Musings from and events for Sheilah Vance, author of the award-winning books: Threshold to Valley Forge: The Six Days of the Gulph Mills Encampment, Becoming Valley Forge, Land Mines, Chasing the 400, and Creativity for Christians

“…a wonderful and insightful contribution to the historical scholarship of the American Revolution.”

Thanks to author and Revolutionary War expert Shirley Green, who ancestors were at the Gulph Mills Encampment, for her comments on my upcoming book! “Threshold To Valley Forge delivers a wonderful and insightful contribution to the historical scholarship of the American Revolution. With painstaking care and research, Sheilah Vance provides a comprehensive study of the important events leading up to the famous winter encampment of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Vance, not only, adds to our knowledge of Pennsylvania’s role in the Revolution, she also provides the readers an understanding of how individual states and communities, like Gulph Mills, played pivotal roles during the American Revolution.”

  1. Hey Shelia, not sure if you remember me…Anyway when I was in Boy Scout Troop 597 on our neckerchief was the sillhoutte of hanging rock. I remember one year around ’67 we marched to VF for the annual Pilgrimage and we had started in GM marching under hanging rock. Anxious to read your book, hope all is well! Jack Foell

    1. Hi Jack! Yes, I remember you. Thanks so much for submitting this comment! I love your story about the Hanging Rock on your Boy Scout Troop neckerchief and your march to Valley Forge under the Rock. I think you’ll really enjoy my book. If you are in the area, you might want to come to my talk on Rebel Hill at the West End Community Association, Sunday, March 9 at 2pm, sponsored by the King of Prussia Historical Society. I am so looking forward to that! If not, feel free to get back in touch once you’ve read the book. Best, Sheilah.
